About
Hi, I'm Hriday.
I was born and raised in Durgapur, India, then moved to Kolkata to study for my BSc in chemistry (honours) at St. Xavier's College, followed by an MSc at Jadavpur University.
Eager to explore more academic avenues, I moved to Canada and joined Professor Jens Müller's lab at the University of Saskatchewan for my PhD. My doctoral work involved creating boron-bridged strained ferrocenophanes, used as building blocks for boron-containing metallopolymers. It's no surprise my friends affectionately call me Dr. Ferrocene.
After a fulfilling time in Saskatoon, I moved to Kingston in 2019 to join the Crudden Lab as a postdoctoral research fellow, working on carbene-based electrochemical biosensors. In 2022 I began teaching undergraduate chemistry at Queen's University as a term adjunct, and in 2024 I joined the Docoslis Lab researching SERS-based biosensing for antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Today I'm an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at MacEwan University.
Outside of chemistry, I love hiking, photography, cooking, and I'm a big fan of coffee.
